• Erroneous Lifestyle Beliefs

I often wonder how we develop beliefs about ourselves. Of course, the sources of some beliefs are easy to identify. I know that I’m a good listener because people often tell me that. I know that I’m comfortable in nature because that has been my experience. But what about the deeper, more enigmatic beliefs we find at our core? Our first memories often set the stage for a large part of our self-perception.

• Overcoming Failure and Transcending Psychosocial Conflict

People often ask me why I am interested in practicing relationship and marriage therapy. To them I explain that I question how conflict in today’s world could be transformed. Could global, macro conflict be assuaged if individuals had a better understanding of themselves and real skills for living in peace with just one or a few other people in a marriage or family? I believe so.
