Single in the City

Our goal is to help you feel confident, secure, peaceful, relaxed, strong, and hopeful. But perhaps right now you instead find that you're asking yourself some of these questions:

  • Why am I still single?
  • Will I ever meet the right person?
  • Why am I having so much trouble navigating the dating scene?
  • Should I be feeling so down that I’m single?
  • Why do my relationships never seem to go anywhere?
  • How can I deal with the pressure to be married and having children?
  • Why do I hit it off on a date and then never hear from them again?
  • Is my current relationship “the one”?

You’re not alone in having asked yourself these questions. Many women in their 20s and 30s experience anxiety, frustration, and a lack of fulfillment with their dating life. It can also be challenging to discern who you should be dating or if you are dating the right person. It could even be that everything else in your life – your career, your friendships – is going wonderfully. Yet despite your best efforts, this one area brings a lot of worry.

Single in the City is a support group for DC women in their mid-20s to late-30s who want to discuss dating and relationships with other women in a supportive, open, and confidential setting.

I co-lead this group with Lena Aburdene, MS, a colleague who also received her educational training at Loyola University Maryland. We launched the Single in the City group in response to the need among our clients and the community for a support system for single women in Washington DC who are navigating the dating and relationship world. We each offer unique perspective on dating and relationships based on their clinical and personal experiences.
